Monaco will allow midfielder to leave with Manchester City the likely destination

Brazilian defender, come midfielder, Fabinho has reached a gentleman’s agreement with AS Monaco to depart the Ligue 1 this summer. According to today’s edition of L’Equipe, City are the only likely destination for Fabinho.

The 23-year-old was instrumental for the Principality club knocking Manchester City out of the Champions League a fortnight ago. Now as we approach the summer window, it looks as though the player will be allowed to depart for pastures new.

Manager Pep Guardiola is believed to be an admirer of Fabinho whose flexibility to play as a holding midfielder, and right-back, make him ideally the ‘perfect Pep player’.

Fabinho has played all season in a midfield role for Monaco – a position he has excelled in throughout the course of the season. The Brazil international has notched up eleven goals and seven assists from the position which is something City lack from midfield.

If L’Equipe’s claims are valid, City would be set for one of the signing’s of the summer window.
