Manchester City are set to sign AS Monaco midfielder Bernardo Silva for €80 million. Should Silva sign for the Blues, it would mean he would overtake Kevin De Bruyne as City’s record signing.
Surprisingly, news broke this morning that Silva had, in fact, landed in Manchester from Malaga after he cut his holiday short to finalise a move to Pep Guardiola’s side.
Bernardo Silva started his career at his boyhood club Benfica before the Portugal international joined Ligue 1 outfit, Monaco for £15.75 million in 2014 – despite making one appearance in the league.
Silva would play a huge role in Monaco’s Ligue 1 winning run as well as their Champions League campaign in 2016/2017. This campaign, Silva notched eight goals and nine assists in the league as well as managing a further two goals and one assist in the Champions League.
Silva has been compared to David Silva due to his close control, vision, and ability to unlock defences with a single pass and any move will undoubtedly have the footballing world cringing with envy.
