Manchester City and Arsenal are interested in signing Sporting CP’s goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, A Bola report.
The 29-year-old Portuguese international reportedly has a €45million buy-out clause in his contract. Sporting are not willing to listen to any offers lower than that of the clause, and are already fighting off interest from Marseille.
Patricio joined Lisbon as a 12-year-old and has been at the club ever since – he remains Sporting Lisbon’s captain and longest-serving player.
The shot-stopper would be a welcomed addition to Pep Guardiola team, though he doesn’t have a reputation of being able to play with the ball at his feet. He certainly knows how to stop the ball from going in the net – something we have struggled with a lot this season.
With Willy Caballero’s contract up at the end of the season, and Claudio Bravo being far from impressive, City will certainly be in the market for a new goalkeeper. Patricio brings a vast amount of European experience having played many seasons in the Champions League, Europa League and even World Cup experience.
