Since Pep’s arrival at the club, there has been very few departures. However, following recent reports from Italian news outlet Gazzetta, it appears Mangala may be out the door at City.
After arriving at City in the Summer of 2014, Mangala has struggled for consistent form. He had a great debut vs Chelsea, putting in a man of the match performance against Diego Costa. Besides this game, though, there has not been many of a similar level.
Just a couple of weeks ago the blues signed John Stones from Everton for close to £50million, and this has all but pushed Mangala further down the pecking order.
Guardiola has since left the defender out of his Champions League squad list, and now interest from abroad has increased. AC Milan and Napoli appear to be the front-runners for Mangala right now – with City requesting £13-£16m for the player. Valencia were also interested in the player, however, as it looks like they will be keeping hold of Mustafi their interest has cooled off.
Considering City paid £25million for the player, £16million is a considerable amount of money to lose on a 25-year-old who has Premier League and Champions League experience.
