Manchester City have three of Europe’s most promising forwards at their disposal: Leroy Sane, Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling. Potentially the most promising trio in the world, it will not be a surprise if they form the frontline to feature for City for years to come.
This attacking trio provides a headache for Pep Guardiola with first team names such as Sergio Aguero and Nolito missing out.
Leroy Sane began the season struggling to adjust to English football and wasn’t featured as much as he and the fans would have hoped for following the hefty fee demanded by Schalke. However Guardiola has allowed him time to adapt, and of late he has been genuinely sublime, even mesmerising at times. The German international combines speed with physicality and power to ease his way past defenders.
His play came to fruition against Spurs when he was up against one of the most in-form full backs in Kyle Walker, and on multiple occasions, Sane dribbled and danced his way round the defender and got a goal for his efforts. After that, he scored back to back goals and has created numerous chances.
Gabriel Jesus has had a meteoric rise to fame, providing an assist on his debut and scoring three goals in the two games before his injury. The 19-year-old has kept Aguero out of the team providing not only goals but also a phenomenal work rate. His desire to close the opponent down and regain possession is laudable, and although he will surely have his ups and downs in a blue shirt, his future is with us.
Raheem Sterling looks rejuvenated after combating the critics of last season and so far this campaign he has notched eight goals in all competitions already beating the six of last season. He started this season in fine form, landing the Premier League’s player of the month award but then was inconsistent for several games. However, he has come back to his best in recent games and let’s remember he is still just 22-years-old so has lots of time to improve and terrorise defences for the foreseeable future.
That future certainly looks bright with these three prospects under Pep’s wing, and they can only improve. The possibilities are limitless.
