Pep’s first, if not, favourite signing last summer when he joined from Borussia Dortmund on a mere transfer worth £25 million. Ilkay Gundogans first season at City has been a nightmare, with him picking up an injury that ended his season in October.
Gundogan’s attributes and reputation was mere perfection for Pep and there was no hesitation that he would be fitting in nicely at City. His season started well along with the team and the peak of his performance was when City was facing Barcelona in the Champions League, with Gundogan scoring two goals and dominating Barcelona almost single-handedly.
Now looking to be fit for pre-season with City, Gundogan looks ahead to what could be his most important season ever, staying fit and showing not only Pep but the world what he is capable of, the season ahead of the World Cup.
The alternative to Gundogan is Yaya Touré (33).
