Fabian Delph has quashed any rumours that he wishes to leave Manchester City at the end of the season by confirming his intention to remain at the club for a third season.
Despite suffering from a series of injuries during his first two seasons in Manchester, he remains hopeful of being an integral part of Guardiola’s squad as he made his first Premier League start of the season away to Chelsea on Wednesday night.
Since joining the Blues from Aston Villa in July 2015, Delph has featured just 23 times in the Premier League – with 8 of them seeing him start.
Now after making his first Premier League start under Guardiola, he hopes to continue under the Spaniard’s tutelage next season – amid links of a return to Leeds United.
“I’m working with the best management team in the world, as far as I’m concerned, the best players in the world, we’ve got great chemistry, a lot of the boys we’re very close and of course I’d love to be a part of that.” Delph stated following his display in West London.
“We’ll have to see what happens at the end of the season.”
Whether or not Delph makes the cut at City remains to be seen, however, unlike many others vying for their place in the squad, Delph has the bonus as being a homegrown player which City will need to fill for next season.
