After the less than successful signing of Claudio Bravo, and Willy Caballero’s contract coming to a close, City should be looking at Benfica ‘keeper Ederson. The 23-year-old is on the verge of the Brazilian national team, and has caught the eye of Pep.
Ederson broke through as one of the most promising young keepers in Europe this season, putting Julio Cesar on the bench. Many of Moraes’ attributes match those that City and Pep seek in their quest to replace Claudio Bravo and ultimately Joe Hart as their number one.
Lightning quick reflexes, tall, comfortable on the ball, and finally, if not most important of all, age is on his side! Age is a huge issue for Manchester City, it’s been showing gravely and here is a man that Pep could rely on not only for a season but many years to come.
With a potential price-tag around £52 million City will really have to splash the cash on this young but highly rated goalkeeper. An alternative to Ederson is Jack Butland.
