Pep Guardiola has announced that he believes his time as a football coach is nearing the end. The Spanish manager believes that his time in management is already drawing to a close as he wants to retire young.
The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager is just six months into a three-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, but in an interview with American Sports Broadcaster, NBC, Guardiola confirmed he felt his time was drawing to a premature close.
“I feel that the the process of my goodbye has already started.”
“I will not be a trainer when I am 60 or 65 years old. Manchester City is three years, or maybe longer, but I am still approaching the end of my career as a manager – I am sure of that.” Guardiola said.
Staggering this is only the eighth professional season in Guardiola’s career after taking the role as Barcelona head coach in 2008. After four years in charge of the Catalonian giants, Guardiola opted for a sabbatical before taking over the reigns at Bayern Munich.
Guardiola has not ruled out extending his stay at Manchester City but the reiterates his time in management has already begun to end. It looks as though City would be the last position Guardiola holds in football.
