Manchester City are close to finalizing a move for three players. Schalke’s Leroy Sane, Nacional’s Marlos Moreno, and Palmeiras’ Gabriel Jesus are three deals expected to be completed within the coming days. The finalization of all three contracts would take City’s spending beyond the £100million mark with the club still keen on signing two players at a minimum before the end of the window.
The news breaking this morning comes from China as it looks likely that the club has briefed the media ahead of City’s clash with Borussia Dortmund. The Times, Express, Daily Mail, Mirror, Guardian, and Telegraph are all running with the same story that City are set to complete a move for all three in the future deals.
City’s negotiations with Schalke regarding a move for Leroy Sane stem back to January when the club’s interest in the player was first reported. At the moment, both parties are locked in negotiations over a potential deal with the valuation of the player almost £5million short of what Schalke are requesting.
Most notably, German reports suggest that Sane has informed Schalke he wishes to join Guardiola in Manchester and has since agreed on personal terms despite interest from Bayern Munich. It looks likely a deal will be concluded soon with BILD reporting that an agreement is “imminent” with City meeting Schalke’s valuation but the payment being spread over bonus’ related transactions.
Schalke Sporting Director Christian Heidel wants a deal agreed soon so both parties can move on. Heidel said: “Like us, Manchester City also must think about itself, as both teams have to take into account the further planning in the transfer market.”
Another long-term target sees Nacional’s Marlos Moreno close to a move to City. Columbia’s Olympic manager has already confirmed that Moreno will not feature for his national side at Rio 2016 after City refused to allow him to leave. A £8million fee has been reportedly agreed, and it’s expected he will move to a La Liga club for the upcoming season on loan until City can obtain a work permit in England for the winger.
Txiki Begiristain is also very close to securing a deal for Brazilian wonder-kid. Here at Inside Manchester City we ran an exclusive story where Begiristain confirmed to us that the Brazilian was on his way to Manchester. Parent club Palmeiras want £26million for the forward and City have stolen a march on some of European football’s biggest clubs.
A deal has become difficult to conclude reports Jamie Jackson, who states the time difference between China and Brazil has made a communication an issue regarding the deal. The player’s agent has also confirmed a deal with City is close as Christian Simoes, admitted talks with City are at an advanced stage. He said: “Business with Manchester City? “I can state that we are looking at some contractual details at the moment. I can confirm this. With Manchester City, we have made progress. We will see.”
Guardiola has already bought Ilkay Gündogan for £21m, Nolito for £13.8m and Oleksandr Zinchenko for £1.7m, putting the total at £36.5m. A finalization of a triple deal will take City’s spending to £103.5million.
