Manchester City drawn against Ligue 1 giants in the Champions League

Manchester City have been drawn against Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the last 16 of the Champions League.

City, as an unseeded team, will play the first leg at home with the dates to be announced today.

The first legs will take place on February 14/15 and 21/22 with the second legs played on March 7/8 and 14/15 with the aggregate winner progressing to the next round of the competition.

AS Monaco play their home games at Stade Louis II which mean there will be a relatively small allocation for away fans; the capacity stands at just 18,523.

The Ligue 1 side should not be considered an ‘easy’ tie as the Principality club are averaging three goals per game and boast former Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao.

Nonetheless, City are capable of quickly overcoming the French club, but improvements must be made on the field over the coming weeks.

Guardiola will be quietly confident of guaranteeing City’s place in the last eight once again.
