Manchester City are preparing a club-record fee for Borussia Dortmund forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Sky Sports broke the groundbreaking news this evening that City are willing to make the Gabon international their next target as Pep Guardiola’s summer revolution continues.
Aubameyang was prepared to join Paris-Saint Germain this summer before a move to the Parisian outfit collapsed following the departure of Sporting Director, Patrick Kluivert. Any potential move to the Ligue 1 club has ceased following Guardiola’s side expressing an interest in the Bundesliga top-scorer.
City’s interest in the player was first reported last June when Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio announced the Blues were close to securing the Dortmund forward ahead of Pep Guardiola’s first season in England. Despite no move materialising, City have reportedly re-opened their interest and are willing to make a bid of €60 million for the player.

Guardiola’s primary forward target was believed to be Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez. However, a move is seemingly far away from a conclusion considering the links with Aubameyang to Manchester City.
If City are to pursue a move for Aubameyang, then they must fend off reported interest from Aubameyang’s former manager, Jurgen Klopp, at Liverpool. Nonetheless, Sky Sports have confirmed these stories are inaccurate contrary to widespread belief.
It’s almost a certainty City will attempt to recruit in the forward areas this summer, but whether supporters will be content with Aubameyang leading the lines, it remains to be seen.
