Manchester City are preparing to make official approaches for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez and Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez.
Reports from England suggest City’s hierarchy will sit down this week to discuss a possible U-turn on their decision to wait until the summer to sign Sanchez. Gabriel Jesus’ knee injury suffered against Crystal Palace has forced Guardiola to request the club sign the Chile international sooner rather than wait until the summer to sign him for a free transfer.
Arsenal want £25million for Sanchez for any suitors interested in signing the player this month. Ironically, Arsenal rejected a deadline day move of £60million for the player who is now set for an imminent departure to the Etihad Stadium for half the price previously agreed.
Sanchez is not City’s only target this month, with Real Sociedad defender Inigo Martinez expected to join City this month. The Blues are keen to strengthen in defence this month, and Guardiola believes the Spaniard would be a great fit at City.
City would need to pay his €32million release clause for the deal to occur, but like Sanchez, Martinez is eligible to play in the Champions League knock out stages.
