Manchester City has just announced that Tosin Adarabioyo has put pen to paper on a new deal which will keep him at his boyhood club until 2021.
After captaining the U18s to the FA Youth Cup final in 2015/16, his performances were rewarded with a start against Chelsea in the senior version of the competition where he demonstrated a reliable man-of-the-match performance.
This excellent form earned him a promotion to Pep Guardiola’s first-team and a place on the pre-season to China meaning the season ahead looked incredibly promising.
The 19-year-old only made a small handful of appearances this season, coming on as a substitute in the Champions League and the EFL Cup.
He came on as a substitute in the 5-0 thrashing of Steaua Bucharest and played the full game in a group stage win against Celtic.
In the EFL Cup against Swansea, he was one of the youths to star that night, with the likes of Brahim Diaz and Aleix Garcia also given their chance too.
However, all this experience in training with the calibre of players at City and learning from the likes of Vincent Kompany can only enhance his development.
Tosin is very comfortable with the ball in possession which is accompanied by a precise and accurate tackling ability, meaning he could fit into City’s back line perfectly.
Tosin will be prolonging his 14-year stay with City and has no intentions of leaving anytime soon. The contract extension signals an encouraging year for Tosin who has thoroughly deserved his chance, and supporters will hope to see him flourish in a City shirt for years to come.
