Pep Guardiola has identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke as the ideal replacement for Yaya Toure next summer. According to Spanish publication Marca, City want the Atletico Madrid star to join the ‘Pep revolution’ at the Etihad Stadium. However, any potential deal is going to be a complicated matter.
Guardiola has earmarked Koke as the long-term replacement for Toure, and the 24-year-old could perfectly compliment the Guardiola style of play. In 2014, Koke signed a long-term contract with Atletico, and with a release clause of €150million, complex negotiations would take place with neither club wanting to budge on their valuation.
Koke’s passing range and ability to go from box-to-box would see City improve on their ageing squad with the addition of the Spanish international.
Still only 24-years-old and yet to reach the prime of his career, Koke has recorded close to 300 appearances for his home-town side, and with not much else to achieve for Simeone’s side, a move to Manchester may be tempting.
