Pep Guardiola was offered a very interesting position before he chose City

Marti Perarnau, Pep’s biographer, has claimed that Guardiola was headhunted by Los Blancos president Florentino Perez. Guardiola’s long-term association with Barcelona would automatically witness the Spaniard refusing any potential move to the La Liga giants.

“Madrid contacted [Josep Maria] Orobitg, Guardiola’s agent, in order to try and contract him.

But from the start, it was out of the question. I was there.” Claimed Perarnau.

“Real Madrid called Pep Guardiola to try to tempt him last November before they sacked Benitez.”

The interview was broadcasted on Spanish radio outlet, Cadena Ser.

Just weeks later it was announced Guardiola would be swapping Munich for Manchester at the end of the season. Guardiola’s influence is already evident and imagine if he had joined near neighbours United?

While City continue to progress and go in pursuit of yet another Premier League title, United continue to struggle with Jose Mourinho now at the helm at Old Trafford.
