Pep Guardiola is looking to bolster his midfield options with Sporting Lisbon’s William Carvalho one of the names being discussed at the City headquarters. The Bleacher Report firmly believe Pep Guardiola is keen to strengthen the frailties in midfield by adding the Portuguese midfielder to his squad.
The report suggests Guardiola has identified Carvalho as the long-term replacement for Yaya Toure with the midfielder likened to former City midfielder Patrick Vieira. His effortless style of play, superb passing range and incredible strength would see him quickly adapt to the style so desperately craved by Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
German midfielder Ilkay Gundogan’s long-term injury has left a gaping hole in the midfield of the park and with Yaya Toure aged 33, and Fernandinho 31, City can no longer rely on youth to add the required energy and strength Carvalho could.
Any move in January is probably unlikely but do not rule out this one in the summer.
