Manchester United forward and captain Wayne Rooney’s 7-year-old son, Kai, has been training at under-age level with City’s academy. The United legend has annoyed many supporters at Old Trafford by unwillingly allowing his son to train at United, but instead at United’s biggest rivals, Manchester City.
Kai was initially training with Manchester United in October before father Wayne opted to allow him to train with United’s rivals City.
Kai has since lined out for the City under-7s academy team, with Rooney present in attendance. Premier League rules do not allow Manchester City to confirm that Kai is training at the City Football Academy as until he is nine-years-old, City will be forced to stay tight-lipped.
Rooney isn’t the first United player to allow his child to train with City as Robin van Persie’s son Shaqueel also trained at City’s academy while the Dutch striker was playing at Old Trafford. Darren Fletcher, Phil Neville, and Nicky Butt were all players that have been in Rooney’s shoes.
