Manchester City have identified Virgil Van Dijk as the man who they want to replace Vincent Kompany. According to the Daily Star, Guardiola is considering a move for the Southampton defender as the injuries to skipper Kompany continue to rack up.
Kompany picked up another injury recently away to Crystal Palace, and the City captain will be missing for another six weeks with a knee ligament problem following a collision with goalkeeper Claudio Bravo.
Indeed, City have identified the Dutchman as a potential replacement for their influential skipper and believed a £30million may see City secure a deal for the 25-year-old.
Van Dijk’s performances this season have witnessed him become one of, if not the best, defenders in the Premier League and with his prime years yet to occur, Guardiola is keen to recruit himself with the former Celtic defender.
The Netherlands international would be ideally suited to Guardiola’s style but must fend off competition from some possible suitors.
