Manchester City have been linked with numerous midfielders who could possibly become first-team signings this summer. But one name who continuously finds himself in the headlines is Napoli midfielder, Jorginho.
The Sun report the Italian midfielder is keen on a move to the Etihad Stadium and would prefer to play for the Champions, instead of Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United.
The 26-year-old’s agent held talks in Manchester last month but the outcome of the meeting is not known. It remains unclear which club the midfielder’s entourage was talking to but it seems the Napoli superstar would prefer to continue to play his football in Blue next season.
Guardiola is also keeping tabs in Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago along with Shakhtar midfielder Fred, so whether City move for Jorginho remains uncertain.
City want to sign at least one midfielder this summer as Yaya Toure will leave the club after eight-years. Fernandinho will be 33-years-old when the new season commences so fresh legs in midfielder is certainly a summer priority.
Should United rival City’s bid, they could pursue a move for the player as they intend to replace the retiring Michael Carrick while adding further strength in depth to their squad.
