Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred has spoken publicly about his admiration for Pep Guardiola and a possible move to Manchester City this summer.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a successful season in Ukraine and looks set to claim a Ukranian Premier League title for Donetsk, however, Fred’s focus seems to be on his future rather than the present.
City’s interest in Fred had seemingly decreased, with Manchester United the club who have been linked with a move for the Brazil international of late. Despite apparent interest from United, Fred is keen to join Manchester City and has even spoken to international team-mates about the possible move.
In an interview with Globe Esporte, Fred said, “I spoke with the guys in the dressing room of the Seleção, and they said to come and play with them.
“They are great players and Guardiola is an excellent coach. He has just become English champion.
“I’m sure my staff and family are working on it, finding the best place for me. City is a great team, but I have to wait, I don’t know where I’m going and have to stay focused because they will choose the best place for me, I’m sure.”
