Somewhere in deepest darkest Ukraine, Bond villain Dimitry Seluk is chuckling as he strokes his white cat. His favourite client Yaya Toure has been restored to Manchester City’s Champions League squad for the next round against Monaco. City fans will remember the fallout from Yaya’s omission when the last squad was announced.
Toure comes in for the injured Ilkay Gundogan and is joined by newly purchased ‘watermelon’ Gabriel Jesus. Jesus is not included at the expense of Kelechi Iheanacho (as some at first suspected) since Iheanacho is eligible anyway as a youth player.
Similarly eligible are youngsters Angus Gunn, Tosin Adarabioyo and Aleix Garcia to give Pep his full 25-man squad. Whether City can topple European’s elite with this squad of players remains to be seen.
