For the first time, Manchester City will receive a guard of honour following their title victory last weekend.
It’s the Blues’ third Premier League crown; however, because the previous two titles were claimed on the final day of the season, City have never been privileged enough to receive a guard of honour from any opposition side for their success.
Swansea City have confirmed via their official website they will recognize City’s achievement this season and applaud the City players’ entrance onto the pitch before the two teams kick-off on Sunday afternoon.
“We are proud to the do guard of honour for Manchester City on Sunday,” manager Carlos Carvalhal said.
“They are the best team in the Premier League, and they play fantastic football.
“Congratulations to them, to Pep Guardiola, all the player, and the club. They deserve to be champions – the numbers show you that.”
Despite winning the league, and with now a guard of honour to follow, the Blues will not be presented with the Premier League trophy until May 6th after City’s game with Huddersfield.
