Valencia left-back Jose Gaya has become a prime target for Manchester City as the club prepare for next season and the revamp of players in the full-back areas.
Pep Guardiola has identified his compatriot as the ideal replacement for both Gael Clichy and Aleks Kolarov next summer with both players expected to depart the Etihad Stadium.
A source club to the club has confirmed to IMC that Gaya is the number one choice for many people at City with his age and attributes highlighted as key to the team’s next stage of process.
Gaya, who recently turned 21, is attracting the interest of some of Europe’s biggest club’s and his parent club Valencia are reluctant to lose their prized young asset.
His ability to both attack and defend has caught Guardiola’s attention. He previously purchased Juan Bernat from Valencia when he was Bayern Munich manager, and Gaya replaced the Bayern-bound left-back.
The La Liga giants have no intention of selling and will demand at least £45.5million for Gaya’s signature.
