Manchester City have made an offer for Napoli midfielder Jorginho, although it’s believed the bid has not come through any official channels, according to Radio CRC.
Txiki Begiristain met with Napoli’s chiefs this week to discuss a possible deal for the player and offered €45million for the midfielder, which is well below the Serie A giants valuation for the 26-year-old, as confirmed in the report.
Napoli did not entertain Begiristain’s offer for the Italian international as club President, Aurelio De Laurentiis, hopes to obtain a fee closer to the €75million mark.
Despite the offer not being made official, the report continues to state that City could send their first formal offer via email in the coming days for the player Pep Guardiola regards so highly.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, spoke to the same radio station to talk about his client possibly moving to Manchester City.
“Guardiola the next (coach he plays for)? Let’s see. He is an extraordinary coach and the chance that he goes to the City is real. I have not received official offers, but I can not know if Naples has received them or not. On 30 or 31 May I will be in Naples.” Santos said.
“The boy still has two years of contract with Napoli, and the last word will always be up to the club. Only De Laurentiis will decide whether or not to accept an offer for Jorginho. If he does not want to sell him, we will not start negotiations for a possible renewal of the contract. ”
It remains to be seen what occurs with Jorginho’s possible move to Manchester City, but the player and his camp indeed seem keen on a move to the Premier League champions.
