Incredibly, Manchester City forward Leroy Sané has been dropped by Germany for their final 23 man World Cup squad.
Sané was devastating for City last season after he scored 14 goals and assisted 15 goals during the Blues’ title winning campaign. Now, with Sané expected to star at the World Cup, the 22-year-old was stunningly dropped by his national side for the tournament.
City supporters remain divided on whether they’re content with Sané’s abence due to the possibility of him being well rested ahead of next season, and whether they’re disappointed for the man who was pivotal to City’s double winning season.
Unlike Sané, City team-mate Ilkay Gundogan was one of the names on Joachim Low’s 23 man list for the finals. Gundogan played a lesser role for City during the season but the 27-year-old’s experience could be vital to the Germans as they attempt to defend their World Cup title.
