Manchester City is considering moving for Bayer Leverkusen forward Leon Bailey, but only if their pursuit for Kylian Mbappé doesn’t materialise.
Pep Guardiola has identified the 20-year-old as an alternative to Mbappé, according to Goal. Bailey is on a two-man ’Non-Mbappé’ shortlist with Guardiola keen to reinforce his attacking options with the acquisition of another forward.
Bailey has scored nine goals and created six assists as Leverkusen continue to push for Champions League football next season.
In the report, it mentions City have maintained interest in the forward since first identifying him as a target in January. Bailey has struck up a friendship with current City superstar Raheem Sterling but a deal is not close at the present time.
City will contact Mbappé in the coming weeks to discover whether a summer move for the player will be possible. If not, City will move forward with their interest in Bailey and bring talks to an advanced stage if agreements can be made.
Claudio Bravo could be apart of any possible deal that could bring Bailey to the Etihad Stadium.
