Manchester City have met with the representatives of Nice midfielder Jean-Michael Seri in Paris to discuss a possible move to the Etihad Stadium.
French publication L’Equipé report the Blues are attempting to provide cover for midfielder Fernandinho with Seri identified as the ideal candidate for Pep Guardiola.
The Ivory Coast international has risen to fame in Ligue 1 and almost joined Barcelona last summer before Nice’s President refused the Catalan giants approaches. Seri has bolstered an impressive passing accuracy of 92% in Ligue 1 enhancing his reputation as a ‘Guardiola midfielder’.
Guardiola has beckoned his closest allies to Paris to attempt to shy away interest from Paris-Saint Germain in the player and ensure he lands the 26-year-old. It’s unclear whether Seri would join this month, but it’s assumed any deal brokered now would be ahead of a summer move to City – replacing Yaya Toure who will become a free agent.
City have also made an official approach for Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, but the player has signed an improved five-year contract at the Ukrainian club.
