Manchester City have opened negotiations with Gabriel Jesus regarding extending his contract until 2023.
Negotiations between City and Jesus’ representatives have met to discuss a new contract with both parties feeling optimistic over a possible conclusion.
The Telegraph believes City will be keen to add a further two years on to his current deal and increase his wage to £100,000 – a 30% increase on his current contract. Jesus’ new deal is likely to see the Brazil international have some performance-related bonuses included.
City have already concluded a contract extension for David Silva with Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne, and Raheem Sterling the next significant stars lined up for a renewed contract.
City’s hierarchy are also aware of the player’s growing stature in world football and are also keen to acquire Jesus’ image rights to capitalise on in the football market.
Jesus has yet to feature in a game where City have lost, and the club will be hopeful that omen continues heading into the Christmas period.
