Pep Guardiola is one of four Premier League managers interested in bringing Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to England. The France international is widely tipped to join City’s rivals – Manchester United – but Guardiola remains keen on the forward.
The London Evening Standard believe the 25-year-old is wanted by City, Chelsea, United and Arsenal. A move would prove incredibly difficult for any potential suitor, as the France international signed a contract in Madrid in June with a reported €100million release clause.
Atletico manager Diego Simeone has admitted that it could prove impossible to keep the highly sought after Griezmann this summer.”I don’t tie anybody down, I simply keep working to continue getting better for the sake of the club,” he told a press conference.
“I don’t tie anybody down, I simply keep working to continue getting better for the sake of the club,” he told a press conference,” Simeone said.
“He is in an extraordinary moment, is working well, has got back on the scoresheet and his form is good.
“It is normal that the best teams in the world want him. I am not surprised that the teams who are looking are the ones who can afford him.”
Griezmann admitted in November that he regularly asks Paul Pogba what is it like to play for Manchester United, but with Sergio Aguero’s future under speculation, don’t be surprised to see City mount a significant push for the Atletico Madrid hitman.
