Manchester City are prepared to challenge bitter rivals Manchester United for the signature of Barcelona defender, Samuel Umtiti, should he become available.
The 24-year-old and Barcelona has stalled in negotiations over an improved contract at the Nou Camp, and the Bleacher Report believe the two Mancunian clubs are ready to pounce should he decide to leave the Spanish giants.

The France international has continuously been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks, but City have been monitoring his situation at Barcelona since January.
Umtiti has reached a standstill with Barcelona over signing an improved contract as his current deal expires in 2021. Barcelona are keen to tie down their star defender due to his buy-out clause being only €60million.
Barcelona would be powerless to stop the player depart if either club was willing to activate his release-clause however, all indications point to him wanting to remain in Spain should Barcelona meet his wage demands.
Umtiti has emerged as one of the best centre-backs in European football following his €25million move from Ligue 1 outfit Lyon in 2016.
