The first ever Manchester derby to take place on foreign soil finally has a venue.  The NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, with play host to the two Manchester clubs doing battle in July.

The game against Manchester City on July 20 has been left open while the two clubs remain in discussions.

Houston’s NRG Stadium is expected to be confirmed as the venue even though it’s understood that no contracts have been signed yet. San Diego and Austin were also mentioned as other possible venues for the match.

Pep Guardiola and Mourinho were to meet in their first Manchester derby in China last summer, but it was cancelled on the day of the game due to the awful state of the pitch at the Bird’s Nest Stadium in Beijing.

City will also play host to Real Madrid during the club’s pre-season tour of America before taking United on in front of a likely sell-out Texan crowd.
