Manchester City are close to completing the transfer of Leicester City forward, Riyad Mahrez, for a club-record fee.
According to Daily Mirror, Leicester are prepared to grant Mahrez’ sale to City this summer after the Blues revisited their interest in the Algerian following a failed move for the player last January.
Mahrez went AWOL from Leicester after the 27-year-old was the subject of multiple bids from Pep Guardiola’s side in January, but his dream move to City is edging nearer.
The report believes Mahrez could swap Leicester for Manchester when he returns from holiday as both clubs are trashing out the final details of the deal and payments of agent fees.
Guardiola has identified Mahrez as the ideal attacker to strengthen his squad as the club will aim to compete for the Champions League as well as defend their Premier League title next campaign.
The Algerian international was pivotal during Leicester City’s title victory in 2016 as he claimed the PFA Player of the Year award that same season. Mahrez has scored 39 goals and assisted 27 goals in 139 Premier League appearances for the Foxes.
