This morning’s announcement of the Premier League fixtures for the new season means that Manchester City fans now know the key dates to look out for during the oncoming campaign.
City will begin the 2017/18 season with a trip to the south coast to play Brighton in the Seagulls’ historic first ever Premier League game on the 12th August. The Blues’ final match on the 13th May will take place in the same region, as we will travel to St. Mary’s to face Southampton.
City’s home opener will take place a week after the opening day, as Everton will travel to the Etihad. City will be hoping to improve on the dissapointing 1-1 draw that was played out in the same fixture last season.
The two Manchester derbies will take place on the 9th December and 7th April. December’s match-up will be held at Old Trafford and the later return fixture will be at the Etihad.
A Boxing Day trip to Newcastle United and a New Years’ Day match against Watford at home make up a relatively comfortable Christmas period, that also features clashes with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.
City’s first group stage fixture of the Champions’ League will occur after a home tie with Liverpool, and game six of the European competition takes place just before the trip to Old Trafford.
