Pep Guardiola has reportedly signed another Catalan in the last few hours as former Espanyol player Eduardo Mauri is set to swap Barcelona for Manchester. Mauri graduated as a doctor after his playing career ended in the Spanish city. Mauri worked as the club doctor to his former team-mates at Espanyol before departing for Qatar in 2008.
Mauri then returned to Barcelona, directing the sport medicine sector of the Instituto Traumatológico Quirón. Spanish media outlet SPORT are reporting the doctor is now set to join Guardiola’s staff. Vincent Kompany was treated by the Spaniard following his season-ending thigh injury he suffered in Madrid last May.
Now set to join his Catalonia colleagues at Manchester City, the club is now being controlled by some of the best in the business in all areas. City will be hopeful he can have a similar effect on the team’s progression in Manchester like previously achieve in Barcelona.
