Manchester City will look to secure their 18th consecutive Premier League win as they travel to relegation-battling Newcastle United today.
Pep Guardiola’s side took apart Bournemouth on Saturday winning 4-0, while Newcastle picked up a vital three points at West Ham, beating fellow strugglers West Ham 3-2 to end their nine-match winless run.
The Blues have scored 101 Premier League goals in the calendar year so far, becoming the first team in 35 years to do so since Liverpool in 1982.
Also, if City can avoid defeat, they’ll set a new club record of 20 games unbeaten against a single opponent. 12 of those last 20 games have been wins, and another victory in Newcastle would see them match the record for consecutive wins against a single club – Manchester United’s 13 against Wigan.
Regarding injuries, Benjamin Mendy remains City’s only major long-term injury, and Phil Foden is suffering from an ankle issue. Kevin De Bruyne was also taken off during the win against Bournemouth due to illness.
Newcastle are likely to be without Aleksandar Mitrovic and Jesus Gamez, while midfielders Mikel Merino and Isaac Hayden could return after missing the win at West Ham.
Here is the predicted line-up for the match against Rafa Benitez’ side:
