Ivorian midfielder Yaya Toure firmly believes Manchester City are capable of winning the Premier League this season. City currently sit ten points behind Premier League pace-setters Chelsea and Toure believes it’s not impossible for the Blues to chase down their London rivals.
Toure’s words come just hours after Pep Guardiola ruled City out of the title race after a humiliating defeat at the hands of Everton at Goodison Park.
The 33-year-old midfielder said: “I think in the Premier League everything is possible. In football, you have to be positive. I am a positive guy.”
“I know it is tough sometimes, but you have to accept that and continue to work hard, and we will have the chance. We just have to win a couple of games, and everything will come back again.
“On Saturday we have an important game. We have to keep going. It is a difficult situation but what we have to do is work hard and try to bounce back.
“The league is still long. We have to try to do the business on Saturday and then we are coming back again.”
At the moment, Champions League qualification is an enormous concern for the City faithful and many believe that City face an uphill battle to qualify for European football’s premier competition.
As the Blues are currently just three points of second placed Tottenham, the team’s prioity should be finishing in the top four as it seems the most realisitc option for Guardiola’s side.
